PRIORY GOLF DAY FRIDAY 15TH JUNE 2012

We can now start taking entries to participate in the annual golf day at Reigate Heath on Friday 15th June.

The competition will comprise the traditional 18hole stableford competition and is afternoon only so anyone wanting or needing to still do a mornings work can do so. The first tee off time will be 1.30pm and it is suggested that you get up to the golf club from 12.30 and lunch of either a sandwich or something more substantial can be taken in the clubhouse.

Those who attended the End of Season Dinner will know that The Heath clubhouse is now very impressive and the food and hospitality shown is great.

The cost of the golf day is a very modest 16330 and 1635 to members of the Heath to cover prizes etc. For some reason most of the young players never want to have a meal afterwards when the victors would receive their awards but a BBQ or curry could almost certainly be arranged if sufficient are interested. Failing that many of us just drift into Reigate in the eve...

Priory 1st XI suffered their first defeat of the league season at the hands of local rivals Banstead on Saturday. Priory bowled first restricting Banstead to 166 all out Will Hodson cleaning up the tail and finishing with figures of 413. The batting reply falterered from the start though with only Jonny Perkins 37 and Simon King 23 making any scores of note all out for 129.
The 2nd XI were rained off at Dulwich as were the 4th XI Surrey Cricket League at Merton but the 3rd XI opened their points account for the season against thanks to a great bowling performance from Connor Newbold taking 526 as Ashtead were bowled out for 101. Jordan Bunyan 40 and Darryl Johnson 31 looked good putting on the bulk of the runs in reply and securing an eight wicket victory.
Justin Dempseys first league game as captain of the 4th XI Surrey Championship ended in defeat in a low scoring match against Trinity MidWhitgiftian. The rain made condition difficult at the Red Lion and Priory only managed 62 a...

PARLANE MAKES CENTURY BUT 1ST XI HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A WINNING DRAW AGAINST WEYBRIDGE

A century for overseas star Neal Parlane after losing part of his back tooth to a bouncer and valiant efforts from Sakes and Hodo in the final overs werent quite enough for the 1st XI to beat Weybridge on Saturday as they clung on nine down in the final over at Park Lane.
The 2nd XI rained off at Weybridge after a rally from captain Birdy and the tail put them in contention while Jordan Bunyan 86 and Shaq Mendis 58 starred for the 3rd XI with a 2nd wicket partnership of 116 before Phil Davies Simon Wickham and Joey Bennett took three wickets each to do the damage with the ball to give them a 126 run victory over Beddington.
Olly Hartley 422 was the pick of the 4th XI bowlers before Fieldhouse Lenney and Haughton chased down 151 against Sutton to give them their 4th win of the season and take them up to 4th in the table. The 5th XI struggled against the same opposition though and went down to Sutton by five wickets.

A maiden halfcentury for new overseas Neal Parlane followed by a great bowling performance to skittle Normandy for 122 gave the 1st XI their second win of the season after losing their first two games.
The 2nd XIs bowlers continue to struggle to contain sides and their batsmen failed to chase down Normandys 287 while the 3rd XI made it three wins out of four games beating Normandy by seven wickets thanks to Simon Wickhams 412 off ten overs and 45 from Kyle Haughton chasing down 120.
Darryl Johnson hit his first every league century 110 opening up for the 4th XI as they just managed to hold off Battersea Ironsides winning by six runs. Despite a strong showing last year only losing once in the league the first two matches have been a disappointment comfortably losing to South Nutfield in the first game and getting thrashed by Rockstars last night.
Some quarters have blamed the failure on the selection policy with many calling for the return of the Tom Ovenell who has been inexplicably snubbed by the selectors so far this season.

Wins for all four of the Surrey Championship teams in their final league games on Saturday was a fitting end to a great season.

Murts and Fos shared an unbeaten 119 run partnership to take the championship winning 1st XI to victory XI against Ashtead.
Birdys 2nd XI beat champions Normandy in a runfest at the Priory Fraser Mac Rambo Wiggers and Halts making big scores in their total of 293 before the spinners did the damage to Normandys batting order. 3rd place for them and looking strong for next season with young players featuring for them this year.
The 3rd XI lead by housewives favourite Brickers beat Normandy with relative ease. Robbo 82 and Batsey 56 put on a 141 run unbeaten 3rd wicket partneship before Irvs Irfan and Big Phil cleaned up with the ball. Their championship rivals Wimbledon also won at Ashtead so they had to be content with 2nd place but its been a good year nonetheless.

I just put the bat there and see what happens said Macdonald. I think of cricket like a game of chess. Like a game of chess where the pieces are men men who play cricket and the board is a cricket pitch. I dont know what the stumps would be I guess thats something for the boffins to ponder over Im just getting on with enjoying my cricket.
