With no Priory newsletters being produced these days here's a look back 21 years and just a few current snippets of news and requests.
Many congratulations Angus - have a great day. A worthy replacement for Screaming Lord Sutch who died on this day 21 years ago.
Congratulations also to Vanessa McDowall who has just won £100 on the May 150 Club draw. If you feel you are missing out on the money and want to join up contact a.morris242@btinternet.com
We still have 20 odd copies of the "History of RPCC" available at £15 a copy. Contact andrew.packham1@ntlworld.com
Any architects in the club who could help in drawing up plans for improvements to the groundsman's cottage at the club? Please contact Andy Packham as above.
So what was happening 21 years ago?
Wicksy had taken over as editor of the newsletter but was away this week so JB had stood in and referred to Wicksy as the "phantom meringue scoffer of '93"
The 1s beat Malden Wanderers, the 2s beat Weybridge and the 3s tied.
JB's match report refers to the Malden quickie as a "nancy boy nonce"
He goes on to highlight the Malden skippers girlfriend taking her clothes on and off as the sun goes in and out and distracting the scorers. Tizzy Bates rolls up and reveals the young lady is one of her 5th form pupils.
Our opening bowler, Simon Bonsor had flown back from Sweden just for the game and flew back afterwards. We dropped both openers off his bowling.
Brendan packed the club house out on the Saturday night and we all went home peacefully at about 1.30.
Getting away from JB's politically correct writings the Euro had just been introduced and for the first time the word "texting" was appearing in dictionaries.
Difficult to admit but the newsletters were so much more fun in the last century but in the words of Mandy Rice Davis "Well he would say that wouldn't he". I know who the hell is Mandy Rice Davis?
