Meet the Newcomers - three of our new young stars

East Molesey is one of the toughest grounds to come away from with a win but the 1s achieved it yesterday.

Winning the toss skipper Oliver inserted the Moles and at 99-2 they looked headed for a good score. However two quick wickets, including the prized wicket of Sam Burge (52), reduced them to 99-4 and with Fraser Sheat and Tommy Ealham wreaking havoc with the middle order they were soon in bigger trouble at 135-8.

James Cake(48) and Matthew Tigg(30) batted sensibly and well in a 9th wicket stand of 62 but Stevens returned and two wickets later Molesey were all out for 196.

Great figures of 4-26 from Fraser and 3-34 from Dicky with Tommy Ealham picking up 2-37 and Angus Dahl with the other wicket.

Seldom has a Priory chase seemed more serene. An “under the weather” skipper hit a quick fire 17 before being caught in the deep at 23. Top knocks from new boys Ollie Sykes (65) and George Ealham (32) took us to 88-2 when the in form Angus Dahl joined Ollie in a 49 run stand. Sykes’ excellent knock ended at 137 but another new boy, Sam Taylor, joined Dahl to take us to 182.

It would not be the Priory without a wobble and needing 15 to win against the Moles seems to traditionally worry the lads as both fell on 182, a returning Sam Hall fell at 193 but the cool heads of Fraser Sheat and Tom Massey steered us home.

East Molesey have been a top side for some years now and this was an excellent win. We had 5 young players in their first season in the side and the photo shows 3 of them, George and Tom Ealham flanking Ollie Sykes.

Yesterday was an excellent day for the club with our top 4 men’s league sides all winning and the 2s also making it two wins out of two. As JB would say “Come on the Llamas”.
