Reigate Priory's Michael Burgess hit 101* to help Sussex into a commanding position in their County Championship Division 1 match against his former team Leicestershire this weekend.
Batting at seven but ceding the gloves to skipper Ben Brown, Burgess came to the crease at 234-5, but put on a 153-run partnership for the ninth wicket with India international Ishant Sharma (66) to lift the away side to an imposing 438-8 declared. The match was drawn.
Burgess - a regular feature in the Priory 1st XI - has made a promising start to his first class career. He was averaging 46 before this game commenced, and his unbeaten ton marks his second first class century in 16 matches.
