In an extraordinary encounter at Park Lane on Saturday Priory somehow managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and gift East Molesey the Premiership title initiative.
After a rain delayed start Priory had the visitors 48 - 8 but let them off the hook and enabled the last two wickets to add 76 runs to reach a partly competitive 124 all out. Even so the total looked well within reach with 6 overs to go and Priory needing just 15 runs for victory with 5 wickets in hand. The Molesey spin pressure told however and the home side were bowled out leaving the visitors victorious by just 4 runs.
In all of the home crowd's despair it was virtually forgotten that Luke Beaven had turned in another superb performance in taking 7-56.
This result leaves East Molesey ahead of Priory at the top of the table by 3 points and Priory needing them to slip up and the title no longer totally within their own hands.
