In a "Beat the Lockdown Blues" effort earlier this year the cricket club set up a Golf Tournament at Reigate Heath Golf Club. We thought 21 entrants was pretty good and it was a great success.
In fact it was felt to be so enjoyable that with the superb support of the Reigate Heath Golf Club management we have gone for a bigger and better tournament this year, open to all cricket club members.
The format starts in "Champions League" style Groups of 4, all playing each other, with the top 2 in each group to go through to a knock out stage. For those who can't do the maths there are then 3 knock out rounds before the two semi finals and then the final.
It is hoped Covid restrictions will allow a fun packed social event to take place at the club to launch the event and watch the draw for Groups take place. There will also be loads of prizes for those achieving some levels of success.
Within 4 days of the announcement to members we had 64 entrants and had to close it there. We already have a sizeable waiting list but if you wish to join it the contacts are Paul Fisher on paulfisher1@mail.com or Andy Packham on andrew.packham1@ntlworld.com.
This is all part of the Cricket Club's management trying to increase the value of Club membership. Let's just hope no further lockdowns impact on next season's cricket and this tournament.
