Youth Update

Reigate Priory Cricket Club24 Jun 2022 - 12:29

A lot to say, but this is for 2 very busy weeks:

Junior Fix Sec Tom says last weekend was our busiest of the season. For the last 2 weeks, we've had 93 junior matches! Terrific work from managers to get it all working smoothly. We can't report on all the matches here but for detail look at: http://rp.play-cricket.com and go to results for the team/s you are interested in. If the manager has entered them, the stats will be there.

As a quick summary of how teams are progressing and some notable performances during the last 2 weeks, we have a few teams sitting at the top of their table ready for the final push - for the boys, well done u/9 As with 6 wins out of 6 (Oliver Radcliffe 3 wickets for 7, James Richardson 20* this week), also u/9 Development side, u/12 T1s, and the Trust League team (older lads) who have kicked off with 2 wins, 60 for Seth McDowall and mention too for coach Will Timmons, now a senior, but 110*. A number of teams lie just off the top spot. The girls are also top at u/9s, u/11s, u/12 (also 6 wins from 6!), and u/15s - brilliant!

U/17 boys have started their campaign with Thomas James 50* v Sutton. A selection of 'retired not outs' include Daniel Burns, Max Gower, Luke Foster, Kai Adams, Oscar Wright, Jonathan Wylie, Max Thomas, Freddie McLoughlin, Ryan Dekker and Edward Taylor (who also took 4 for 10 off 3 overs). There was a lovely innings of 69 at the weekend by Rory Spring, supported by Sam Bell who has put together a string of decent scores during the last fortnight - 76, 52*, 45*, 28 sometimes captaining and keeping wicket too.

Best bowling figures came from Naomi Saunders with 4 overs 5 wickets for 29. Isaac Howatson took 4 for 6 and Tom Rivers 4 for 18.

Finally, Lucy Harris has been at it again with a score of 123 for the Women's side in a cup match, to follow up her 122* earlier in the season. Her other scores in the last fortnight have been 42, 31 and 41* - she is averaging 74 this year and also has 11 wickets. She's going from strength to strength.
