Six games in, and after last week's run chase at Esher, Priory were top of the Prem a third of the way into a topsy turvy season.
Wimbledon won the toss on a hot day at the Priory and unsurprisingly decided to bat first. Richard Stevens and Fraser Sheat removed the openers, and regularly went past the outside edge, and after 8 overs Wimbledon were 23-2.
A few decisions then went the visitors' way and Australian pair Jack Boyle and former Priory keeper/bat James Crosthwaite steadied the ship. The 50 partnership came up in 74 balls, at lunch Wimbledon were 115-2. The pair then pressed on, and Crosthwaite and Boyle's 50s came up in 74 and 75 balls.
Wimbledon 150 followed in the 34th over, and the 150 partnership in 213 balls. Tommy Bates managed to break the partnership when Boyle was caught for 72, and Priory's spinners began to take control as Wimbledon lost 3 quick wickets and fell to 209-6. Crosthwaite reached his 100 in 156 balls, before falling to Bates for 115, leaving Wimbledon on 245-7. Stephen Reeves added a useful 26, but Wimbledon were all out for 274.
Pick of the bowlers for Reigate was Michael Munday who took 5-75.
Reigate began the chase briskly, and after 7 overs, Reigate were 50-0. Luke Haughton fell for 41, and at tea, Reigate were 97-1. When Richie Oliver fell for 64, Reigate were 139-4 before a collapse saw Priory lose their last 5 wickets for 23 runs, as they were bowled out for 171 in the 42nd over.
Pick of the Wimbledon bowlers was Jack Boyle with 6-29 – on a day for the spinners who took 16 wickets between them.
Wimbledon go joint top with East Molesey with Priory 5 points behind in 3rd. Next up for Reigate is Spencer, home in the 120 over format next Saturday June 28.
Earlier in the week Priory had played Croydon in the Surrey T20 quarter finals, and cruised through to Finals Day on July 20, at Normandy. Croydon found Tommy Bates (4-17) a tricky proposition, and Tom Massey also pitched in with 3-13, as Croydon were dispatched for just 98. In reply, although Richie Oliver was cleaned up first ball, Seth McDowell (29 off 13 balls) got Priory off to a flyer, and George Ealham (43*) and Rory Haughton (24*) put on 64 to complete an 8 wicket win in just the 13th over.
