On an overcast day at Sunbury, who started the match surprisingly in relegation spot, Sunbury won the toss and asked Reigate to bat. Surrey star Ollie Sykes fell early for 9, and when Richie Oliver was bowled, Priory were 23 for 2. Skipper George Ealham came in to join Luke Haughton, and they started to play attacking shots, bringing up Reigate's 50 in the 12th over, before the rain began to fall.
An early lunch was taken, after which Ealham and Haughton looked to accelerate. The pair brought up their 50 partnership off 80 balls and were building a strong platform for the Priory. Ealham was looking in good touch, as his 50 came up off 58 balls. Haughton was then out for 39, leaving Priory 112 for 3.
Tommy Bates came into join the captain, putting on 50 off 53 balls. Ealham's 100 came off 114 balls, before Bates was stumped for 46, after the pair had put on 99 for the 4th wicket. Sheat came in looking to attack the bowlers. Ealham hit 22 off one over from Jack Greaves, as Priory went through the gears, looking to accelerate the scoring before a possible declaration. The pair had put on 50 off 29 balls, and Ealham's 150 came off 147 balls, but Priory then slumped from 272-4 to 290-9 after 59 overs, when Priory declared, leaving Sunbury with a tricky 3 overs before tea.
With the third ball of the innings, Fraser Sheat bowled Sunbury's skipper, Rajan Soni for a duck – leaving Sunbury needing 285 to win after tea. Fraser and Surrey's James Taylor were looking quick and dangerous, and in no time, Sunbury were 36-5 with all 5 wickets going to Sheat. Resistance came from Sunbury's overseas, Hugh Weigben, whose 50 came off 90 balls, but James Taylor finally removed him for 57 to Ollie Sykes third catch at first slip, leaving Sunbury on 139-8.
It took Priory another 8 overs to finish off Sunbury as they battled hard to 147-9, before being finally dismissed for 161 at almost 8.30pm, leaving Priory winners by 129 runs!
Pick of the bowlers - Fraser Sheat with 7-29, but the combination of Sheat and Taylor was crucial. And whilst Priory, who picked up 24 points stay third, the top 6 in the Premier League are now separated by just 17 points. Priory are now only 8 points behind new leaders Sutton, who Priory visit next Saturday – as Sutton smashed Esher, chasing down 227 to win by 9 wickets, and going top after Spencer beat last week's leaders, Wimbledon.
