The twos travelled to Spencer this weekend for what can only be described as a tough days cricket.
Spencer batted first and put on a strong opening stand with both players still being not out at the drinks break having had numerous chances not taken in the field. Quote from VC Will Irving "when the third one went up and I called it, swede was gone, never felt like taking it" tells the tale of the first 25 overs for the llamas. This led to the llamas getting a firm talking to from the skipper at the break which sorted us out as we came back better in the 2nd half of the first innings.
Wickets began to come for Reigate with Irving (2-50) taking the first. Wigley (1-61) then got the key break through with a superb horizontal catch from Hutch which got the man on 122 out. Spencer eventually finished on 297 - 8 after 52.5 overs. Other wickets came from Mcinley (2-37) and run outs. One can only feel sorry for both Hirst and Hutch who bowled 15 overs between them creating about 6 chances all not being taken.
After tea Reigate went out to bat with Macdonald and Lister at the top. Macdonald after some good striking fell for 44. Saker batted at one end throughout to make 74, with other good contributions from Irving (39) and Bunyan (32*). But unfortunately this wasn't enough for the llamas and the end saw Hutcheon and Bunyan batting successfully for the losing draw.
This out the system now, roll on next week back at Park Lane.
