The 3s turned up to St Albans Road on Saturday, with the view of the young Ashtead going through numerous earn up exercises. As ever, Brickers was unfazed with this, reiterating his quote that has been used many a time "3s teams that warm up are generally rubbish".
Ashtead won the toss and batted first. At 46-0 after 10 overs, with both openers going hard at the ball, the Llamas were on the back foot.
The return of the Messiah was to change all that. Shayne picked up two wickets in his first
over and went on to wonderful figures of 4-17 from his 10 overs.
Matt Packham, buoyed on by his match winning spell for the Pirates the week before, struggled to find his rhythm but still picked up a couple of wickets, whilst young Wilbur Tiley gave the ball plenty of air and was rewarded with a 3-fer. Skipper Brickers brought himself on at the end to get himself some fantasy points. Ashtead 140 all out.
Tea was not to be seen, so a 10 minute turn around saw the Llamas opening up with Rotsey and Rory Haughton. Rory nicked one off Burge's brother Christian early doors, but Rots was in no mood to hang around.
Bludgeoning the Ashtead attack to all parts the straight midwicket area, Rots raced to 45 from just 36 balls before nicking one behind off the newly introduced seamer.
Rambo joined Ahson, and together they saw the Llamas home. The pair hit the bad ball to the boundary and rotated the strike to ensure no Llama wobble.
The winning runs also brought up Ahson's maiden 3rd XI 50.
A win by 8 wickets with over half the overs remaining.
