Cavs open season with thrilling tie

With Manny walking out on a half empty stomach the team knew that if the toss was won he would take the first opportunity to stock up on whatever the bar offers. As he did, he sent Srikanth and Brijesh to open the innings. Srikanth took little time to adjust to the partially wet conditions hitting a few boundaries before getting caught mistiming a leg slide slog.

With cavs debutant Syed approaching the crease him and Brijesh both put on half centuries to reach the 150 mark before Syed was caught on the boundary. Matt came and hit a quick 20 then the Cosseys came and left and Tyler came and got a fast 5 before declaring at 213-8 after 37.

With only 2 pace bowlers in the team (Manny keeping), Tyler and Sumair opened up and kept them contained until their overseas came to the crease at 86-5 after 21 overs. He hit a well-built 50 and with 16 overs to go they needed 70 odd. He hit his century with 4 overs to
go then Shayne got him caught and they had 2 overs to get 12.

The Cavs had them 209-9 before the last over. They hit two runs off the first 5 balls of Shayne’s over and it was up to their veteran number 11 who hit a stunning on drive over the mid-on fielder but only managed to run 2 to tie the game.
