Following the deluge of rain that saw the Men's 1st team game against East Molesey abandoned on Saturday, Brickers did a superb job on Sunday morning to get the track ready as the Lady Llamas prepared to host Sutton.
Exam season is in full swing and the Lady Llamas ranks were fortunate to be bolstered by 3 members of the U14T1 Ladies side - Georgie, Sophie and Christobel alongside Leah (U15 T1).
Evie promptly lost the toss and Sutton chose to bat, which seemed slightly strange given the above mentioned rain.... That said Evie was not disappointed the Llamas were bowling and handed the ball to Georgie who kept things tight is her opening spell of 4-2-7-0. Naomi opened from the Blue Anchor end and promptly sent the off stump of the Sutton opener Leonard back towards keeper Izzy.
This brought Rebecca Denman to the crease who immediately took the challenge to all the bowlers (Sophie, Millie, Christobel, Naomi & Evie and Sutton began to get on top of the scoreboard - Indeed at drinks they had motored to 104-1 off 17 overs and looked set for a big total.
Drinks as so often happens saw things change quickly! Esmae came on from the Blue Anchor End and Georgie returned at the Pavilion End, striking immediately as the other opener Sneha picked out Naomi at midwicket and the four overs after drinks saw Sutton add just 12.
Enter Esmae and in the blink of an eye, Denman caught by Sophie at mid off, Karunakaran bowled and Streeting adjudged LBW - cue 'hatrick' celebrations and Sutton reduced to 116-5.

Llamas assumed complete control with just 43 added in the remaining 14 overs with Christobel taking a good catch in the deep off Lily and a run out from Izzy in the last over seeing Sutton end on 159-7 (35).
After sumptuous jacket potatoes, fillings and salads (teas have changed....) out strode Esma and Leah to chase down the target.
What a job they did, mixing some aggression with well placed and strong running saw the Llamas to 45-0 from the first 10 overs, which became 82-0 after 17 overs as both Esmae and Leah peppered the boundary.
Esmae took the lead, bringing up her 50 in the 18th over and the partnership climbed above 100 in the 21st over.
Just as thoughts of a 10 wicket win were starting to surface, Esmae played around one from Sutton skipper Sneha to be bowled for a superb 73 (91). Mille 26 (19) joined Leah and upped the ante finishing the match with a trademark reverse sweep on the boundary but not before Leah brought up her maiden Llamas 1XL 50 finishing on a superb 56 (71) - the match winning shot coming with 5 overs to spare.
This coming Sunday sees the return match against Weybridge at Park Lane - Despite beating Weybridge convincingly 3 weeks ago, your Lady Llamas sit one point behind there opponents in 2nd in the League so come on down and support the Lady Llamas from 2pm!
