Runs galore set up victory number 3 for the U14 SJIL team

Reigate were inserted after losing the toss & made an excellent 208 ao largely thanks to a destructive partnership of 110 off 9 overs from Long hitting Jonny (74 off 50 balls including 8 4s & 5 6s & 1 BIG 6 into a garden) & Will In a Rush Brewis (70 off 38 balls including 12 4s & 3 6s). Very useful contributions from Will G & Ronnie towards the end helped us to 208.

Blackheath then batted & thanks to some tight bowling & good fielding were 60 at drinks off 13 overs. They then hit out, scoring a few boundaries but with wickets falling regularly ended up on 147 (the perfect break). Wickets were shared around with Ronnie taking 3 & Tristan 2 plus some good catching & an energetic showing behind the stumps by Matt. The only dampener of the day was Ned’s injury but he was brave & will be back very soon.

3 wins out of 3 is an excellent start – well done to all who have played so far. We are scoring lots of runs which always helps and different boys are taking wickets (but our bowlers still need to work on bowling straight – James C bowled no wides showing it can be done!). We are also fielding well in the main but we need all fielders walking in together every ball & being ready in the field – the dream is always no mistakes or misfields!

Thanks to our resident umpire (& phone collector…grrrr) Richard S, the scoring team (Becks & Steve) & refreshment team with refreshments provided by Jo & Becks – the opposition were very appreciative, as were the home team & parents. Thanks everyone.
