It may be 75 years since the D-day landings but it is 275 years ago this week that Reigate and cricket are first mentioned together. Three Reigate men played for England v Kent at the Royal Artillery Ground in London.

Sadly we do not know their names but the match would have looked a little like the one in this famous picture by Francis Hayman. It is of a game at the Royal Artillery Ground in 1743, the previous year.
