Pirates maintain 100% start in SCL Premier

Newly promoted pirates maintain their unbeaten start to the season by seeing off Balham & Tooting. Having lost the toss, pirates were asked to field in the sun. Chunder Gavigan and Pizza Brickers piled on early pressure resulting in 3 quick wickets on what looked like a decent pitch. The opposition batsmen awaiting in the hutch weren’t particularly pleased with Brickers' action - may need to be reviewed. B&T stepped up a gear and gained a bit of momentum through their 4th wicket partnership, dispatching back to back boundaries. A change of bowling to bring on the Snr Overseas (Manny) provided the breakthrough in quick succession. Mr Angry (Kyle) kept the pressure at other end, claiming wickets at regular intervals, notably Snr Overseas taking a sublime catch at short fine leg (P. Friend naming it as 35). Pirates managed to bowl B&T out for 114, a surprise score in the Surrey Cricket league.
Tea was a delight - Jerk Chicken, Sandwich & Pasta, Jnr Shoare tucking away 5 Jerk Chicken Drumsticks (Dirryl has competition).
Pirates got off to a flyer through Kim Gurbutt and Jnr Overseas (Fletcher). An opening partnership of 60 saw the pirates cruising at one stage. Fisher & Jnr Shoare steadied the ship, while Sri and Mitchell lost their stumps trying to finish the game off. Pirates sealed the victory with a boundary from Snr Overseas.
Pirates looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season with a short trip to Rayne’s Park. 5000/1 favourites to stay top of the pile.
