Pirates top of table after convincing St. Luke's win

The Pirates continued their winning start to the 2018 SCL Premier campaign with what turned out to be a thumping good win over last year's Division 1 champs St Luke's by 7 wickets, with some 14 overs to spare. Yet after the first 14 overs of the St Luke's innings as they cruised into the drinks break at 80 odd for 3, things were not looking so impressive.

Indeed, a plethora of wides punctuated a lethargic and unimpressive display. Ross was nursing a battered nose, hit by a rebound off the stumps from a return throw, but new boy Fraser McGuiness took the gloves with some aplomb. A tirade of abuse from a very grumpy JB at drinks preceded a couple of run outs and more than one dubious umpiring decision from the neutral panel umpires which favoured the Pirates. With top bowling performances from Brijesh Bharatiya and Shamanna, and a couple of burgled wickets for skipper Ross, the Pirates went in for tea with a target of just 138 to chase.

20s from Sleepy Rhys (run out whilst snoozing...) and young Will Timmons were supplemented by 30+ red inkers from Fraser McGuiness and Ash Bukhari, which saw the travelling Prates home and the winning streak continue.
