Match report by Jordan Bunyan

The forecast for the Trust League’s home fixture was once again, dismal, to say the least. However, after using every minute of the golden half an hour and taking 10 minutes off the tea break, the game was played in full without any loss of overs.

Reigate won the toss and elected to bowl. A positive start for Trinity Mid-Wits saw them at 65-1 at a decent pace. But a strong reaction from the Llamas soon left them 68-4, with a wicket from Samuel Clark (7 – 29 – 1) and a couple from Arthur Thilo (6 – 28 – 2). The Trinity skipper, Sam Williams (57) stood firm and held the innings together, eventually falling later on to McLoughlin (6.4 – 22 – 2). Wickets shared between Brewis, Harris and a couple from Seth McDowall (5 – 23 – 2) restricted the total to 186, bowling Trinity out in the 37th over. The mood in the changing room was positive and Reigate knew that a couple partnerships would earn the victory.

It was a rocky start to the second innings, Tommy Bates and Adi Bali falling to Ben Valliant (8 – 11 – 3) for 2 and 6, respectively, and the consolidation would now start, or so you would think... Some quick-fire aggressive hitting from Beau Dethridge (14) counter attacked the opening bowlers for a short while before one shot too many saw him stumped. With the score at 28-3, Alec Martin and Jordan Bunyan then looked to rebuild. The next 10 overs went by at 4 an over as the pair ticked away to reach a partnership of 68. But just as the game looked like it could be tipping back towards Reigate, Jordan (29) was bowled by Aditya Kalel, leaving the score at 96-4. Not long after, Alec Martin (36) held out to deep square and the Llamas were up against it. Some big hitting from McDowall (30) gave brief hope, but Trinity continued taking wickets and eventually bowled out Reigate in the last, for 147. The stand out bowlers, other than already mentioned Valliant, were Aman Khera (8 – 23 – 1) and Roshan Malhotra (6.1 – 22 – 3).
